New diagnostic standard helps providers optimize, troubleshoot home Wi-Fi networks

CABLELABS AND THE WI-FI ALLIANCE have partnered on a standardized approach for diagnostic data collection on home Wi-Fi networks.Known as Wi-Fi Certified Data Elements, the standard will provide service providers with better visibility into Wi-Fi networks to enhance the quality of service delivered to customers, a task deemed critical to deploying 10G.With the Wi-Fi Certified Data Elements code released to the open source community, cable Internet providers can work with their vendors to get the code implemented in customers’ equipment and certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
